JAMES W. KIM
James W. Kim is a Founding Partner of Palisades Advisors, LLC. Mr. Kim brings 20 years of successful operating, turnaround and advisory experience in both Fortune 500 and entrepreneurial companies involving technology/telecommunications, consumer products, manufacturing and a variety of service related industries.
At Palisades, Mr. Kim has advised numerous companies including a successful restructuring of a $100 million distribution organization (Colorado Prime Foods, Inc.); a re-launch of a 100 year old beer brand (Rheingold Brewing Co.); the formulation of a turnaround strategy for a $300 million global seafood distributor (Ocean Garden Products, Inc.) and the successful acquisition of a foreign entity based in Korea by a leading on-line marketing company (24/7 Real Media Inc., NASD: TFSM). Currently, Mr. Kim is involved with growth planning and business strategy for a leading manufacturing company (Peck & Hale, LLC) with 60 years industry experience.
Prior to Palisades, Mr. Kim completed his transition year as the Chief Executive Officer of CORCORAN.COM, the technology "spin-off" of The Corcoran Group. The Corcoran Group is the largest privately held residential real estate company based in New York City. At CORCORAN.COM, Mr. Kim successfully completed its formation and development while completing the Series A financing.
Prior to CORCORAN.COM INC., Mr. Kim served as President and CEO of Vivien International, Inc., a multinational manufacturing company with 300 employees with offices in New York, Asia and Costa Rica. Prior to Vivien, Mr. Kim also served as the National Marketing Manager at the headquarters of AT&T where he managed various marketing programs (Personal 800 Service and Profit by Association). Prior to AT&T, Mr. Kim was General Manager of a division of a public company called Com Systems, Inc. (now MCI Worldcom).
Early in his career, Mr. Kim worked in various sales, marketing and sales management capacities at International Business Machines (IBM) and Wang Laboratories where he learned technology in a formal environment.
Mr. Kim has served on numerous Boards including Young Presidents' Organization (an international organization of Presidents), Send A Frame, Inc. (a technology startup), Capital IQ (information database of private and public companies); Charles Flora Consumer Products, LLC (owner of Lavoris); Peck & Hale, LLC (manufacturing company) and TriState Ventures, LLC (consortium of angel and seed investors). Mr. Kim is also a frequent speaker at numerous conferences and seminars.
As an accredited investor, Mr. Kim is actively involved with both private and public companies. Mr. Kim received a BA in Economics from UCLA and an MBA from Harvard University. Mr. Kim resides in New York City with his wife Kyunghwa and has two children, Christopher and Thomas (ages 9 and 7). Mr. Kim is an avid tennis player.
